How to Make a Photo Background White on Mac

Partly. On macOS 14 and later, right-click a photo in Finder and choose Quick Actions > Remove Background, or use Tools > Remove Background in Preview. Both keep the subject and make the rest transparent.

Transparent isn't white, though: many websites and upload forms show a transparent area as black or gray, and JPEG can't store transparency at all. To end up with white you would place the cutout on a white slide in Keynote or Pages and export it again, one photo at a time.
