Questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. They are compressed in your browser with WebAssembly (MozJPEG and WebP encoders) and never leave your device.
How do I compress a photo to 100 KB or 50 KB?
Choose Target size, then enter 100 and KB. The tool finds the best quality under the limit; if even low quality is too big, it also reduces the dimensions a little and tells you.
Which format should I choose?
Same as original keeps the type. JPG is the safest for forms, and WebP gives the smallest files for websites. PNG is lossless, which suits screenshots, but it can't be steered to a size, so Target size saves PNG images as JPG.
Why didn't my PNG get smaller?
PNG is lossless, so saving it again rarely shrinks it. Choose JPG or WebP, or set a smaller longest side.
